The Kindle!

The Kindle is working out great. I can save my notes on it and even PDFs and it will read them just like it does the books. I am so excited. A problem I have had in the past has been the tiny print handouts instructors love to use. I scan them and try to make them bigger and the OCR software does not recognize the "image" as text so it will not enlarge so I can see it. If one thing could be improved it would be the font size when in menus other than that I can start it reading and do other stuff. I like the voice better than the voices that are on my really expensive software on my computer. The Kindle was under 200 bucks. For my friends on here who have vision challenges, this is the very best tool I have used. For those friends who are in school but also have kids or other responsibilities this thing is amazing. You can multi task like never before. You know the cool reviews you get that have a word or phrase, well you can open a book and search in it for that word or phrase it finds it like your computer would and you can highlight the area you need to look back at. You can print from it or copy and paste that section of text into the study guide. You can make notes in the book and bookmark the section to go back and review. OH my goodness I am so excited if you cannot tell. The Kindle 3 is what I got it has the 3G as well as the wi-fi option. I did figure out last night that if you e mail your documents to your kindle or Amazon e mail address in order to pull them up using the 3G to save them on the Kindle you will be charged for the data usage. Instead you can use the USB cord hook it to your computer and save on it like a flash drive. Too Easy!!!! I have read 3 chapters and two different 20 page PDF hand outs that I normally would have just not bothered with and not been able to answer questions on an exam about them. I have never been able to read 1 entire chapter at a time before, due to my eyes getting tired. Kevin is great and will read anything to me I ask him to but that is so boring for him. We also work really well together to cover each other from the kids and well life when one of us really needs to study. To have him sit and read to me is frustrating because inevitably the kids will need something or the house will catch on fire or something. The Kindle also has Google and I have my e mail and Android phone linked to it so If I read a little on my phone or on the computer using the Kindle app they are linked so whichever one I open to start reading it will be on the page I left off on. There is a headphone jack so people around you don’t have to hear what is being read to you. That is bonus. Also has a feature so that you can click on a word you don’t know and it will bring up a definition. The battery last a few weeks or up to a month. Basically if there is a way to cheat while studying this is it
